Limitations of Traditional Knee Replacement
Clinical studies have shown that traditional knee replacements can leave up to 30% of the people who receive them unhappy with both pain relief and function, due partly to poor implant fit, alignment, and bone coverage(1).
Another clinical study(2) found that identifiers, such as gender, body type, and ethnicity do not help surgeons predict which traditional off-the-shelf replacement system or implant size will best fit each individual.
Luckily, Conformis addresses these concerns through our personalization options.
Personalized Knee Solutions: Improving Fit, Alignment, and Bone Coverage
Conformis knee replacement systems use the data from your CT scan to deliver you a personalized solution.
The CT scan of your anatomy is used to design pre-operative plans just for you, and we also 3D-print personalized surgical instruments to help guide your surgeon.
Our personalized plans and instruments are designed to help reduce operating time, lowering the risks of infection and anesthesia. They are also designed to reduce blood loss by eliminating the need for traditional intramedullary guides and drilling to achieve alignment.
Your implant and instruments are then pre-sterilized, packaged, and safely shipped to your surgeon using our Surgery-in-a-Box™ delivery method.
Imprint: Patient-Matched Knee Replacement System
Advanced algorithms select the best size for you.
With traditional knee replacement, surgeons measure your knee during the actual procedure to select your implant size, which can lead to sizing errors and malalignment.
Our Imprint patient-matched or Made-to-MeasureTM system includes 12 sizes based on the size and shape of our 85,000 proprietary fully personalized designs. Advanced software analyzes your CT scan and selects the best Imprint size of the 12 available that will best hug the natural shape of your bones, ensuring excellent alignment and bone coverage.
Imprint is widely and fully covered by Medicare and most forms of private health insurance.
Comparison: Your Surgical Options for Knee Replacement
The following table compares both our patient-matched and patient-specific (available through the deluxe Platinum Services upgrade, typically requiring a non-reimbursable out-of-pocket payment) knee systems to the majority of traditional, not-personalized “off-the-shelf” knee implants on the market.
